Cherry Blossoms: A Textile Translation Art Demos

Get an up-close view of artists at work! Artists exhibiting in Cherry Blossoms: A Textile Translation 2017 will demonstrate a variety of textile art forms and techniques.

Embroidery
Gaye Hansen is currently working on a design of Frank Lloyd Wright requiring precision counting & execution of stitches. Gaye typically works in fine silks in the petit point & cross stitch techniques. Here stitchery often goes on & in hand-made books, another of her passions. Hansen holds a B.H.Ec degree, master Weaver certificate & has authored 5 best selling cookbooks. gaye has been working with Maiwa since 2005.

Embroidery
Catherine Russell demonstrates hand stitching. A member of the North Shore Needle Arts Guild, Catherine says "I have probably half a dozen embroidery projects on the go right now. I'm always experimenting with new ideas...from things I've seen...the materials I work with. Every project is an adventure."
