CONNECT: Community Art Project Exhibition & Silent Auction

  • Thursday, July 29, 2021
  • Sunday, August 01, 2021
  • Silk Purse Arts Centre

During the inaugural First Thursdays Art Walk 21 canvases were painted at stations at the Ferry Building Gallery, Silk Purse Gallery, West Vancouver Art Museum & Buckland Southerst Gallery. Visitors to these sites were encouraged to pick up a brush & add their personal creative mark with guidance from artists Jane Appleby, Maggie Caunt, Wanda Doyle, Sonia Mocnik & Cathy Roddie.

Once the canvases were filled with dynamic imagery & colours, members of the creative mural group 13 Feet Off the Ground met over 8 hours to respond to the artwork created by the public & add the finishing touches to the canvases, including the message to 'connect through art'.

We are excited to present the final image & celebrate all the creative, talented & adventurous members of the community who added their artistic touch to create this piece!

The 24 x 24" canvases will be a part of a silent auction to raise funds for future free community engagement programming like the First Thursdays Art Walk, Creative Voices & Singing By The Sea. Make a bid on one of these unique works of art & help make exciting arts events like this happen again!

Auction closes Sunday, August 1st at 4pm.

We will also be hosting the Connect Through Art Online Auction from July 19-31, with an exciting array of items including original artwork, gift cards for local businesses, hand-crafted fashion accessories, gift baskets & more!

Plan Your Visit to learn how we are ensuring your experience is safe, comfortable & enjoyable through our COVID-19 Health & Safety Protocols, & what you need to know before visiting the gallery.
