'Seaside Afternoon'

Tatjana Mirkov-Popovicki

Painters Tiffany Blaise & Tatjana Mirkov-Popovicki capture the power & majesty of coastal scenes through dramatic brush strokes, bold colours & dynamic compositions.

Tiffany Blaise aims to capture emotionally charged landscapes on canvas by exploring themes of movement, introspection & transformation through reinterpreting subjects such as dramatic BC coastlines & swirling skies. Combining gestural ink brushwork, fluid washes of colour & cold wax impasto, Blaise's paintings express a mood; bold, romantic & dreamy, connecting our inner nature & the landscape that surrounds us.

Tatjana Mirkov-Popovicki's vibrant & textured  paintings pose questions responsibility. At first glance, her new series Coastal Sentinels celebrates the natural beauty of Western Canada. But it also brings up its pain-points & fragility. Using the visual language she has developed through study of the local landscape, Mirkov-Popovicki attempts to converse with it. Still in awe of what it says to her, a new question arises these days: Can these places be saved?
