Introduction to Pen and Coloured Pencil Workshop with Joanne Waters

Levels: Beginner 

Join Joanne Waters as she shares her knowledge with coloured pencil and pen. In this two hour workshop you will learn how to transfer designs, work free hand, use black pen and blend colours to create your desired image. You will be able to experiment with different paper bases to learn the effect of pen and pencil on them. 

This workshop is excellent for beginners wanting to learn how to sketch and blend with coloured pencil and pen or if you are looking for a way to improve your coloured pencil  flora and fauna pictures. 

Joanne works in a variety of mediums but recently has gone back to creating with coloured pencils and pen to create cards which are featured in the gift shop at the Silk Purse. She learned the techniques at a community centre class over a period of four years ending with a group show at the Silk Purse about seven years ago.

Workshop participants are recommended to wear a mask.

Supplies Needed

• Set of 24 coloured pencils
• An ultra fine black Sharpie Pen
• Small pencil sharpener
• Eraser

Artist Bio

Joanne Waters has been active in the art scene in West Vancouver since 1995.  She was first know for her sculptural kelp baskets where she gave workshops, & exhibited at the Ferry Building Gallery. Her next endeavor was wire sculpture and again she gave workshops, had an exhibition at the Ferry Building Gallery, and presented at Harmony Arts Festival.   

Her work with wet wool felting began in 1985 where she taught and created garments for sale. Her work with needle felting began in about 2015. She has regularly had pieces in the Silk Purse mainly during the annual Cherry Blossoms: A Textile Translation.
